Pet Bowls (Mosaic)

Here are some examples of my mosaic elevated bowls. These take hours to make by hand. The structure of the elevated holder is hand made from clay, it is fired in a kiln and it is glazed on the the top edge where the stainless steel bowl rests and it is glazed on the inside of the ceramic holder. I create the designs on paper first as a drawing and then I hand cut individual pieces of stained glass and glue them on a fiberglass mesh over my paper designs. When the designs are complete, I attach them onto the ceramic holder with thinset cement. After the thinset cures I grout between the small glass pieces. After the grout cures, there is lots of clean up of the glass. These are beautiful works of art that do not have to be moved as they come with removable stainless steel bowls that are just picked up and thrown in the dishwasher to clean. I can make them with pint size bowls or quart size.  I keep mine filled with water at all times except when I am feeding and then I switch out for a food bowl. The actual stainless steel removable bowl is inexpensive, so you can have multiple back ups as they are a standard size that is easy to purchase.
